Bahrain’s New Walking Trail Showcases the Kingdom’s Pearl Trading History

Bahrain is home to the historic Pearling Path walking tour, an exciting opportunity for visitors to explore the kingdom’s rich history and the culture of pearl diving. This 2.2-mile trail offers a unique chance to step into the past, showcasing well-preserved architecture in Muharraq, the former capital of Bahrain. Once the heart of the country’s pearling industry, this area was home to pearl divers, who were the primary contributors to Bahrain’s economy.

The path begins at the Bu Mahir seashore, located on Muharraq’s southern tip, and weaves through many fascinating destinations, including Al Ghus House—a former divers’ residence now transformed into a museum. The trail is also close to the Suq Al Qaysariyyah, Muharraq’s oldest market, where visitors can explore traditional pearl sellers, new cafés, and bookshops.

The Pearling Path offers a captivating self-guided tour, providing an immersive experience that makes it a perfect destination for curious and adventurous travelers eager to learn about Bahrain’s rich history.
