UNESCO opens nominations for the 2025 UNESCO King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa Prize for ICT in Education

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa established the King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa Prize for the Use of Information and Communication Technologies in Education with The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO). UNESCO announced the opening of nominations for the 2025 edition, marking the award’s 20th anniversary. The award recognizes global efforts to enhance education through technology, reflecting Bahrain’s sustainable development goals. This year’s theme, “Preparing learners and teachers for the ethical and responsible use of artificial intelligence,” underscores the growing importance of AI in education. The prize honors projects from individuals, institutions, and NGOs worldwide that have been operating for at least one year, demonstrating the effective use of technology to improve education and expand access to quality learning.

 

Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education, emphasized the significance of this international award, which acknowledges innovative projects that use technology to promote lifelong learning and address educational challenges. An independent jury will assess the nominations, with the submission deadline set for March 28, 2025. The award underscores Bahrain’s commitment to fostering global progress in education while aligning with its broader sustainable development goals.
