Bahrain Grand Prix ‘Most Eco-Friendly Race Ever’

Formula 1 fans have praised Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) for its efforts to become more sustainable and reduce its impact on the environment.

BIC had announced that the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix 2023 is expected to be the most environmentally friendly motorsport event in history.

Fans are welcoming such initiatives, in which BIC aims to further minimize its environmental impact and support both F1’s and the Kingdom’s 2023 net zero goals.

Mohammad Majed from Lebanon said: “It is great to know Bahrain is taking this initiative. I have come all the way from Lebanon just to attend the race and so far the ambiance and facilities are good and it’s nice to know the country is working on being greener.”

Among the BIC projects to increase sustainability are the expansion of the solar farm to cover a second parking lot that will soon begin construction and a new building management system and other energy-reduction measures, to name only a few.

Furthermore, in order to increase the number of segregated garbage bins around the Paddock and public areas and to dispose of leftover food in a special composting machine, BIC has renovated and enlarged its recycling facilities.
