U.S. Awards HM King the Legion of Merit

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa was awarded the Legion of Merit, Degree Chief Commander by U.S. President Donald J. Trump in recognition of HM’s outstanding efforts to strengthen the Bahrain-U.S. partnership.

President Trump noted that “under King Hamad’s decades of steady leadership as Crown Prince, Amir and King, Bahrain has proved to be an indefatigable ally of the United States.” He added: “Bahrain’s support of the US Navy’s 5th Fleet in Bahrain has been essential to enabling multiple contingency operations.”

The Legion of Merit is considered a high honor and is rarely awarded. It goes only to distinguished leaders of countries allied with the U.S. The award in this case went to HM the King in recognition of his role in strengthening security, stability, and prosperity in furtherance of promoting peace across the region.
