UN adopts International Day of Peaceful Coexistence, backed by King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence

The Kingdom of Bahrain continues to stand at the forefront of global efforts to promote peace, unity, and mutual respect among nations and cultures. Demonstrating its unwavering commitment to fostering harmony, Bahrain, through the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence, championed a landmark initiative that led to the United Nations’ official adoption of January 28 as the International Day of Peaceful Coexistence, beginning in 2026.

 

Coupled with this day of recognition, the UN resolution calls on Member States to intensify efforts toward lasting peace and inclusive coexistence. It encourages engagement from governments, civil society, academia, the media, and the private sector in advancing a culture of understanding and inclusivity. Peaceful coexistence remains a cornerstone of holistic strategies for sustainable development, conflict resolution, and global stability. This milestone highlights Bahrain’s commitment to international collaboration in building a more harmonious and united world.
